Today, one of my clients said to me, that he always picture me as having everything lined up perfectly, everything in its place and always put together. Confession. My house is a darn shame. I have dishes piled up in the sink, sofa pillows decorating the living room floor and throws…..thrown across the bookshelf dangling on the floor. I need to clean up. I want to hire someone to come in and clean, but in the back of my mind, I’m telling myself that that is absolutely pathetic. I keep telling myself, “Get it together, Tron! Tighten up!” but there is a part of me that will not budge and creates every excuse in the book as to why, ‘I’ll get to it tomorrow.’ They are legitimate excuses though….I think. It feels like a new project pops up every hour that forces me to redirect 100% of my efforts towards it! So, in an effort to figure out how I’d tackle this strategy, I procrastinated even more and downloaded and ebook to kindle called Unf*ck Your Habitat: You’re Better Than Your Mess, so I could learn how to “Unf*ck” my habitat before it gets out of hand and they have to cast me on a hoarding intervention.
This is an interesting book. A must-have for the the go-getting entrepreneur! It’s raw and it cuts through the bull crap and gets to the point. Because that’s how I can be, it spoke directly to me! Traditional advice just doesn’t work anymore. Today, there are people focused on their building their career, and running a business, involved in charitable causes, or those doing all three….like me. Time is fragile, and everything is important. It’s what I created for myself because I am passionate, but dang. I feel guilty buy help for something that I need to do anyway! Some of the advice they share require so much preparation that I am tired from the sheer thought of it–before I even get started.

Now, I sit here writing about my implementation strategy. There will be no marathon cleaning session here today! But I feel better about what I was able to do. Taking small steps. I have a long way to go, but I will achieve the goal all the same. I am better than my mess, and I will conquer it, so that I stay on track.
