Each Friday we anxiously anticipate the clock to strike 5pm, so we can run out of the building into freedom. Two whole days of it… By the time Sunday is almost spent, we begin side eyeing to the clock’s relentlessly moving second hand.
Time flies so fast over the weekend! Before you know it, you are back to kicking butt and taking names at your second home….work. By the way, who the heck came up with this 5-day work week….2 days off… shenanigans anyway? We need to talk.
Since it is a fact of life at this point, we have already become accustomed to implementing ways to prepare for the new week. Routines are important to our lives, but one thing that I incorporate into mine is a Sunday Routine.
It consists of the following:
1. Clean My Room
Growing up my mom would always say that a dirty room is indicative of a cluttered mind. I find this to be very true. Whenever, I clean up my space, I literally feel like I can think better. Because I can think better, I can produce more results. So on Sundays, I try to clean up or at least make a path way to my essentials… my desk, my closet and the exit. Not only will it help only think clearly, you can actually find more things quickly.
2. Write Down My Goals
After I make a pathway to my desk. I can now review my entire week.I take a look at all personal, networking, meetings, and social events and combine them into one electronic calendar. I think about the other things I want to accomplish for the week. I write them down and propose days to get them done. That way I can get a good handle on the week ahead and create a game plan to make it happen.
3. Plan My Style
I have to select and layout my clothes for the week. This is usually a lengthy process for me if I wait until the morning of. Trust me, many of us are not Steve Jobs and only want to wear a black turtleneck and a blue jeans. We have a lot of clothing to sort through. At this point, the last thing I want to do is figure our what to wear. Then ironing them just takes me over the edge. Taking care of this on Sunday, helps eliminate this hassle.
These are three things that I do to create a Sunday Routine that helps me get a start to my week. It helps me quickly focus on what needs to get accomplished during the week without running around wasting time trying to figure it out. What are some routines that you do to 10x the start of your week?
